Dan Palmer, District Director for the Lawrence-Scioto County Solid Waste Management District has developed a positive program called Sponsor A Site. The program is to be offered to any business, church, civic group or scout group, etc within Lawrence or Scioto County. The program kicked off August 2, 2006; the first area to be sponsored was the area between Molton Field and the Storms Creek Apartments on Lawrence Street in Ironton.
The District has decided to help any organization willing to take on this project in their desired area of either county.. The District will provide garbage bags, and gloves for the clean up. The group must commit to clean up the area once per month or as needed. For more information contact the SWMD office at 740-532-1231 between the hours of 8 am – 4:30 pm.
The Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District is available to help coordinate this event in either county. The program is available for any group (civic, church, etc.) interested in the initial clean up, and monthly (or as needed) upkeep of the designated area.
